A two-day Regional Workshop on Scientific Research Skills for the 21st Century was organized by Association of International
Researchers of Indian Origin (ARIO) in collaboration with Council for Teacher
Education (CTE), Kerala State Centre and Pazhassi Raja College, Pulpally, Wyanad
at Vanamoolika Resort Convention Centre, Pulpally, Wayanad on 26th &
27th April, 2013
Day I (April 26, 2013)
The Workshop commenced with Registration at 9:00 am on April
26, 2013 at Pazhassi Raja College where the inaugural ceremony was held.
Official welcome was done by Dr. K. Y.
Benedict, Vice President of ARIO. Dr. C. P. Sreekantan Nair inaugurated the Workshop
in the absence of
Dr. M. Abdul Salam, Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut. Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas (International President of AIRIO& Bishop of Bathery), Rev. Dr. VarkeyAttupurath (President, AIRIO Kerala Chapter, Dr. Varughese K. John (Principal, Pazhassi Raja College) and Rev. Chamakala gave felicitations. After the inaugural ceremony, the participants moved to Vanamoolika Resort Convention Centre at Pulpally, a serene panorama close to the nature. All the facilities for the Workshop were arranged there, including accommodation and food.

After a sumptuous lunch
with organically cultivated vegetables and fish curry, the session continued
with the Book Chapter Editing in Action -
Collaborative Group Work. The
session was a really a vigorous one as it included interaction of the
participants. The session ended with a
vote of thanks by
Dr. Geetha Janet Vitus (Vice President, Lady Representative, AIRIO).

Once tea and snacks were
provided, panel discussion on Emerging
Trends in Research Practices - Role of NGOs commenced and was chaired by Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas,
Rev.Dr. Varkey Attupurath and Dr.C.P Sreekandan Nair.
After supper, the
proposed campfire was cancelled owing to rain, instead, a cultural programme led by Dr. C. P. Sreekantan Nair was organized. It was an amusing experience and the participants (including family members
of a few participants) enthusiastically
participated in it. With this the first
day came to an end.

Day II (April 27, 2013)
It was a misty morning,
yet a few participants woke up quite early and
went on a short Nature Walk.
After Breakfast, the day’s
programme commenced with
presentation of Concept Papers by Dr. C. Praveen, Dr. Geetha Janet Vitus, Mr.
Pramod and Dr. K.Y.Benedict. The session was chaired by
Dr. C.P. Sreekantan Nair and both Dr.Giby
Geevarughese and Dr. Rajeswari served as moderators.
After a Group Photo
session and lunch in the afternoon, the
participants went on a brief sightseeing
tour. They crossed the Kabini river which borders Karnataka State, by boat.
After a brief halt they all returned to Sultan
Battery for boarding the bus to return to their residence.
